Free Range Thought aired a pseudo Best of program today. We broadcast a number of segments from previous editions which we thought were important enough to put over the air waves again:
This interview was conducted back in March with international legal expert Francis Boyle on his book Breaking All the Rules on US imperialsim, Israel/Palestine, and impeaching GWB.
This interview was conducted with the President of the National Lawyers Guild on her book "Cowboy Republic: Six Ways the Bush Gang Has Defied the Law" and Bush violations of domestic and international law.
Interview with independent journalist on his experiences in Iraq as documented in his "Inside the Green Zone"
Interview on the Security and prosperity Partnership and the North American Union - being done quietly by US, Mexico and Canada's heads of state to undermine territorial integrity and national sovereignty (without the approval of congress).

Today, May 11th, is not only Mother's Day, but it marks the 2nd anniversary of the existence of Free Range Thought. Free Range Thought is largely a response to the Bush Administrations war crimes and, a more general understanding of governments, self determination, world politics, and human rights.
To honor our mother's and address the founding of Mother's Day as an Anti-War Movement, we spoke with Barbara Upton, a member of the New Paltz Chapter of Women in Black.
For Part 5 of our Population/Human Rights Series we entertained the notion of rewilding with our guest Urban Scout and our co-director and co-host for the series, Dr. John Feeney. Remember, our approach is: many of the consequences of the large and assumed unsustainable human population manifest in what we - humans - experience and witness regarding our personal health and the health of many of the dynamically fragile ecosystems such as proportionally high rates of malnutrition, starvation, disease, war, species extinction, environmental degradation, etc. We ask the questions: to what extent are we responsible for other people's suffering (or prosperity)?; To what extent can we address the environmental degradation, energy crisis, food crisis, etc without addressing the fact that the human population has exceeded its carrying capacity?
Geoff Millard, The DC Chapter Pres of Iraq Vetereans Against the War, joined us once again to discuss Winter Soldier On the Hill. As you will recall, Winter Soldier was public testimony given by Vietnam War Soldiers back in 1971 (or 72). IVAW conducted Winter Soldier testimony in DC during March of this year and now they are going to give testimony to the Progressive Congressional Caucus.

Robert and I were glad to have Sarah Perrotta in the WKNY studio with us once again. Sarah's blend of musical elements lend to her unique style that is as charming as it is chilling. She is as brilliant a composer and lyricist as she is a performer - both in terms of her keyboard chops as well as her vocal ability and range. We were completely thrilled that she debuted 3 new tunes of hers and performed a cut off of her recently released CD "The Well" which features such outstanding artists as Garth Hudson, Tony Levin, Chris Lane, and Johnny Watson.
For our 4th installment in our Population/Human Rights series we focused on the alarming rate of species extinction as a result of human population. We were joined by our special guest co-host and co-director John Feeney along with Professor Jeffrey K. McKee - associate professor in the department of anthropology
as well as the department of evolution, ecology, and organismal
biology at The Ohio State University - and author of several books including "Sparing Nature: The Conflict Between Human Population Growth and Earth’s," "Biodiversity and The Riddled Chain: Chance, Coincidence, and Chaos in Human Evolution."

Dr. Deborah Karnasiewicz, Founder and Director of the Women's Health and Fitness Expo, joined us to discuss the the 8th year of the expo including all of the information booths, speakers, screenings, and the mission and intention she had in founding and organizing this great local event.
Population Series Part 3: We were joined by our guest cohost Dr. John Feeney and Dr. David Pimentel - one of the world's leading experts on the global food crisis and its relation to the human population and population growth. We talked in detail about issues such as food availability and it's distribution and the inefficiency of biofuels and how they fuel food shortages. We touched upon issues of the environment as species extinction, climate change, and malnutrition - topics which we will go into greater detail on in future segments of this series.

Today we delivered our second installment of the series on population, environment, ecology, economy, energy, and human rights. We were joined by special guest cohost and moderator Dr. John Feeney.
Our program today focused on Earth's human population and its effect on food and resource allocation and distribution, energy, economy, etc and the effective ways which this issue can be addressed. President and Founder of the Population Media Center, William Ryerson, discussed the effective ways his organization combines the Social Learning theory of leading contemporary psychologist Dr. Albert Bandura, along with the serial melodrama developed by Miguel Sabido, to create positive role models to educate cultures all around the world as a modality for teaching about family planning, gender equity, and related issues.
David Paxson, founder and president of World Population Balance, joined us as well to discuss the population issues and his organizations approach towards changing the way people think and the choices they make regarding reproduction, energy consumption, and their impact on the environment.

Dr. John Feeney joined Robert and I today to launch our 5 week series on population, energy, ecology, economy, and human rights. Trained as a psychologist, Dr. Feeney now writes and speaks about a number of core, yet underreported, environmental issues. Dr. Feeney's articles have appeared in a variety of publications such as the BBC News's Green Room and The Oil Drum. He also maintains a website "Growth is Madness!" where he posts his own writings and features articles from a number of experts in relevant fields (such as renowned ecological economist Herman Daly, anthropologist J. Kenneth Smail, and many others).
During the first and last half hours Robert and I discussed some pressing news items (including Ron Pauls statements on the impending police state) and also aired an interview with Tim Sutton - Media Educator and Producer with the Children's Media Project in Poughkeepsie NY.
