Listen to Interview with Dahr Jamail:     Part 1 (55 Min) >>     Part 2 (15 Min) >>

Robert and I were honored to be joined by independent journalist Dahr Jamail to discuss his recently published book "Beyond the Green Zone: Dispatches from an Unembedded Journalist in Occupied Iraq".

Here is what Howard Zinn has to say about Dahr's book: Dahr Jamail does us a great service, by taking us past the lies of our political leaders, past the cowardice of the mainstream press, into the streets, the homes, the lives of Iraqis living under U.S. occupation. He is a superb journalist"

We had exected to be joined by the Gene Baur, the President of Farm Sanctuary, to discuss the animal welfare impacts of the FDA's decision to allow cloned animals into the nation’s food supply. Gene had a family emergency so Robert and I read the press release from Farm Sanctuary/AAVS.

Listen to Closing notes from the program >>

Regarding the 'use' of cloned animals in the food chain: The FDA made the decision despite the fact that the public is overwhelmingly opposed, the research on consumer safety is dubious at best, and it is of huge animal welfare concern—only five percent of cloning attempts actually result in animals surviving, and of those, major welfare implications exist. To make matters worse, the labeling of these products is NOT required. The FDA has chosen to favor industry interests while wholly disregarding public opposition, consumer safety and animal welfare.
